Dig Into Reading!
Summer Library Program Kickoff
June 19, 1pm

1:00pm - Paw Paw Puppet Theater gives puppet shows of classic folk and faerie tales, often with a twist. To open the 2013 summer library reading program season Paw Paw will present a 30-minute puppet show featuring the tales Lion & Mouse and Monkey & Crocodile, two stories young readers can find in books in the library; and stories in which characters appreciate how reading enriches their lives.
1:30 - 3pm - Children and families are invited to sign up for the summer reading program and register for events.

CRITTERrrr MAN!

Today we are consuming our natural resources faster than ever before. In the process, we are losing critter habitat. The question is…what’s best for the critters? We need to get diggin’ and find renewable solutions to save critter homes. Come and meet some critters that are always exciting and sometimes unpredictable! And use caution, there will be dangerous levels of humor.

We Come from the Land Down Under!
With Wildflower Dundee and Lenny
July 10, 1pm

Meet Wildflower Dundee and her mate from the outback, Lenny the Lizard. All the science, stories, silliness & songs that we can dig up about tubers, bulbs, and roots. Let's unearth the facts, folklore, fables & fantasy of the food that grows down under with entertainer and educator Wildflower. I can dig it, you can dig it, can you dig it? For 20 years Wildflower has dug into the history and humor of plants and people. She lived out back in the bush of Dundee, WI for 6 years. Her rescue lizard has it's roots in Australia and is the inspiration for this program for all ages!

“Have Guitar - Will Travel"

As a former first grade teacher David knows the importance of developing good reading habits at an early age. His program motivates kids to develop a life-long love of stories, books, and music. David’s shows are very interactive His song "Plant Myself a Forest" is a perfect song for our “Dig into Reading” summer theme. The kids will get to dig in soil, plant seeds, and watch a forest grow - all from the comfort of the library. (No real soil is used.) And as always, the kids will sing song, move some, act some, dance some, shout just a little bit, and laugh a bunch. The adults just sit back and enjoy the show.

Juggling Funny Stories!

You’ll be laughing out loud as nationally-known family entertainer Chris Fascione brings children’s stories to life with his high-spirited and innovative performances. Full of energy, humor and imagination, Chris creates colorful characters through his unique combination of acting, storytelling, comedy, and juggling. 9:30am - Preschool Storytime - For ages 2 to 4 and younger siblings. Enjoy 30 minutes of stories, music and activities. Please register as space is limited.

10:30am - Preschool Storytime - For ages 2 to 4 and younger siblings. Enjoy 30 minutes of stories, music and activities. Please register as space is limited.

11:20am - Toddler Storytime - For walkers up to age 35 months, capable of sitting on their own. Enjoy 30 minutes of board books, music and movement! Please register as space is limited.

Under A Bedtime Sky:

A Stuffed Animal Campout at the Library

Monday, June 17 @ 6pm

Children ages birth to 9 are invited to drop in and drop off stuffed animals at the library in the evening. Critters spend the night at the library doing all sorts of fun things. The stuffed animals are then waiting for their owners at the library the next morning, where the night's activities are recounted on a digital picture frame.

SUMMER LEGO® CLUB: Weekly Build!

Tuesdays, June 18 through July 16

Kids, ages 5 to 12, will have about an hour to build a cool creation. Keep your creation from week to week, or start fresh each time.
Build whatever you would like!

The Weekly Origamist: A Paper of Creativity

Wednesdays, June 19 through July 24, @ 9:30am

Kids (5 and up) and adults alike will meet once a week to work on cool origami creations. Join Rob for an ever expanding origami project. Each week, participants will use the design from the previous week to create ever more complex geometric origami designs.
No program on July 3.

Three Week Dance Classes for Kids!

For children ages 6-11! Explore the joy of music & movement while learning basic hip hop & jazz dance style and movements. Creativity, coordination, rhythm & fun! Sign up now!

Creative Movement Dance Class - 3:30-3:50pm
For children ages 3-5! Younger children may join with adult assistance.  Creative Movement Dance fosters physical and congnitive development through dance, music, drama, rhymes, and stories, and encourages creativity, coordination, and body awareness. Sign up now!

Read to a Dog

Independent readers may register to read to a specially trained Reading Education Assistance Dog. Children can sign up to read for one 20 minute time slot to Wilson, a Spaniel. This dog loves to listen to young readers! Sign up your child in advance either in person or by calling 222-6127. A Reader Information Form is requested prior to reading; download it here or pick up a copy at the circulation desk.
