Read to a Dog
April 5 and May 18

Independent readers may register to read to a specially trained Reading Education Assistance Dog. Children can sign up to read for one 20 minute time slot to Buddy, a Golden Retriever (April 5) or Sophie, a Standard Poodle (May 18). This dog loves to listen to young readers! Sign up your child in advance either in person or by calling 222-6127. A Reader Registration Form is requested prior to reading; download it here or pick up a copy at the circulation desk.

Sign Language for Babies and Toddlers April 10, 9:30-10:30am
One hour introductory WORKSHOP will teach the basics to aid in communicating with NONVERBAL HEARING children using American Sign Language. Participants will learn approximately 25 American Sign Language words to aid in communicating with children, incorporating instruction, music, games and stories
in a fun and engaging atmosphere.

Children are very welcome, however, you may find it easier to concentrate and learn the signs if you leave children at home with a care provider. We recommend that you register for the event, as space will be limited to 30 people. However, walk-ins will be welcome on the day of the program if space is available. Registration can be done here.
