Early Literacy Activities Workshop Feb 16, 6-7:30pm
Monona Public Library Youth Services Coordinator, Karen Wendt, will present the Six Early Literacy Skills and share ideas about how to use them when reading children's picture books and non-fiction books as well as ways to generate interaction with children when reading. She will demonstrate a variety of ideas and techniques for creatively presenting picture books to children; such as using props and music in storytime. Participants will receive lists of books, fingerplays and songs, and an Early Literacy Skills handout. This program is for parents, teachers, daycare providers, grandparents, or anyone who wants to know how to give a child a better grasp on literacy through story. This program also counts as 1.5 hours of continuing education credit. Registration can be done here.
